This studio photograph was taken in Jerseyville for the wedding of John Edward Hetzel and Sopha Goshorn which took place on the 29th of July 1896 at the home of Sopha's parents, William and Antoinetta (Witten) Goshorn four miles northwest of Fieldon in Section 15, Richwood Township. John Edward Hetzel was born on the sixth of February 1873 at the home of his parents, John and Harrietta Henrietta (Anspach) Hetzel, three miles northeast of Fieldon in Section 18, English Township. Sopha Goshorn was born on the 29 of December 1873 at the home of her thrice widowed grandmother, Eva Maria (Langen) (Witten) (Lappe) Hankey, 1-1/2 miles west of Fieldon in Section 27, Richwood Township.

The reclined baby boy is Herbert Harold Hetzel (born 5 January 1903, Ottercreek Twp.).
