NEFF C. Neff January 16,
1997 I am looking for information on Thomas NEFF. The family Bible says
he was born 2 Apr 1829. He married Sarah GRAVES. They are both buried in
the Girard Cemetery, Macoupin County, IL. He is listed in the cemetery
records as being 51yr/8mo/5da when he died 5 Dec 1883. Therefore there
is some speculation as to what year he was born. Sarah was born 16 Jun
1834 and died 31 Jul 1898. They are my great grandparents. They had at
least two sons, Everett b. 1867 d. 1919 and William Edward b 25 Nov 1866,
d 6 May 1936. William married Hattie Mae GARDNER b 23 Oct 1871, d 7 Aug
1964. Wm. and Hattie were my grandparents. All are buried in Girard Cemetery.
The 1860 Census records do not list the NEFF's but according to his funeral
papers William Edward NEFF was born near North Otter. There may be a link
then to one of the surrounding counties, MORGAN, SANGAMON, MONTGOMERY,
MADISON, GREENE, or JERSEY. If you have any information regarding either
the Neff or Gardner lines, I would really appreciate you sharing it with
me.
